Wishes From Richland

Until my vineyard
Burned
I never knew
Its sweetness.
The juices that once
Dripped from my tongue
I never considered greatness.
The clear bells of innocence
Wept aloud
To the horizon
And the violent sea
And I watched the smoke
Carry away
The poetry in me.
